AssentWorks, a public-access rapid prototyping and fabrication workshop located in the Exchange District will be visited by Prince Charles on his upcoming visit to Winnipeg.  AssentWorks is taking on global significance! Michael Zajac and I have spent time at AssentWorks experimenting with 3-D scanning, 3-D printing, and vacuum forming. On Tuesday, January 21, 2014, Michael and I led a tour of AssentWorks for members of  the Manitoba Craft Council. Thanks to MCC Programming Director Tammy Sutherland for organizing it.

During the tour we showed some of our tests and prototypes, and explained how we’ve been making use of AssentWorks’ 3-D scanners and printers, and the vacuum-forming machines. We plan to be back at AssentWorks in summer 2014 to continue investigations into rapid prototyping in preparation for my upcoming exhibition at the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery in Waterloo, scheduled to open in January 2015.
